Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper Cupcakes

Ingredients for Cupcakes:

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 stick butter (softened)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup cherry Dr. Pepper

Directions for Cupcakes:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Combine cake mix, buttermilk, butter, eggs, and Dr. Pepper
  3. In a mixer, beat ingredients for one minute on low, then another minute on high
  4. Pour mixture into lined muffin tin (filling each hole 2/3 full)
  5. Bake 15 minutes

Ingredients for Vanilla Frosting:

  • 2 sticks butter (softened)
  • 4 tablespoons vanilla flavored syrup
  • 3 cups powdered sugar

Directions for Vanilla Frosting:

  1. On medium speed, beat butter and syrup
  2. Switch speed to low, add powdered sugar slowly
  3. Beat on him for two minutes

Ingredients for Cherry Frosting:

  • 2 sticks butter (softened)
  • 1 jar maraschino cherries
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • red food coloring#

Directions for Cherry Frosting:

  1. Combine butter and 4 tablespoon cherry juice
  2. Beat on low, slowly adding powdered sugar
  3. Beat on high for two minutes
  4. Add red food coloring to make the mixture more vibrant, if desired


  1. Remove cupcakes from liners and cut in half horizontally
  2. Put the bottom of the cupcake in each 8 oz wide mouth jar
  3. Add a layer of vanilla frosting (pipe or spoon)
  4. Add cherry frosting
  5. Place top of the cupcake in a jar next
  6. Pipe or spoon one more layer of frosting (cherry or vanilla)
  7. Garnish with a cherry on top
