How to Dye Your Napkins?

Once you have soured all the required materials for your napkin dying projects, put on your rubber gloves to prevent the dye from sticking to your hands. Removing the dye is hard, so ensure you take care of this.

Here, we will discuss how to get an ombre effect on the napkins. It's quite famous and looks pretty good with every setting. All you need to do is to take care of the dye color you're using. Make sure you have bought the dye that matches your table's color scheme.

Step 1: To get the ombre effect on the napkins, use the folding technique - Fold the napkins into a rectangular shape and put the elastic band on top of it. If you want the perfect details and no folds on the napkins, you can skip this step and continue without folding them.

Step 2: First, soak the napkins in the water, as a dye works better if the fabric is wet. Get the buckets or tubs, and follow the instructions on the dye and table salt you have. Add hot water and a certain amount of table salt and dye according to the instructions given on the packages.

Step 3: Once you have stirred up all the dye ingredients, dip the napkins in the dye container. If you want the ombre effect on the napkins, dip the ⅓ of the napkin or a little more.

If you fold the napkins with the elastic band, you won't have to hold them in the container to catch the dye. Instead, use the paper clips to hook the elastic band onto the container. It will stop the napkin from falling into the container.

Step 4: To get the strong dye effect on the napkins, let them soak in the container for 5 minutes. Next, add warmish water to the solution to get the perfect ombre effect. You may want to be careful while pouring the water so you're not creating splashes on the napkins.

Once you have added the water to the solution, let the napkins sit in the solution for 5 minutes. Filling up the solution with water will reduce its depth. You can repeat this step depending on how broader the ombre effect you want on the napkins.

Step 5: Lastly, remove the elastic bands, pick them up carefully, so the excessive dye doesn't fall on the top of other napkins, and then carefully squeeze the napkins from their dipped end. Soak them in the water and make sure the water runs off them.

You can dye different effects on the napkins following these steps mentioned above.
