Black & Gold Splatter Paint Macarons

DIY Black and Gold Splatter Paint Macaroons

Just as the rest of the world, I've been utterly obsessed with macarons this year. I knew I had to have them for my birthday party from the moment I laid eyes on them. I bought these from a bakery because making macarons is serious business - they're not for the faint of heart. I had to give them my own signature, though, so I added a little extra splatter paint pizzazz to make them mine. • Macarons in your flavor/color of choice. I bought 1 dozen almond Macarons.
  • Cookie sheet that will fit in your fridge
  • 1 3oz container Wilton gold pearl dust
  • 1-3 drops Wilton black icing color
  • 1 teaspoonVodka
  • Small paint brush

Directions: In a small dish, mix the Wilton gold pearl dust with a small amount of vodka. Vodka evaporates quickly, leaving behind the pearl dust. I used wedding cake flavored vodka for my macarons. You'll want the pearl dust to be runny enough to splatter or drip from the brush. In another small dish, you can add a few drops of the black icing coloring and mix it with a few drops of water - just enough to get it runny. Lay out your macaroons on to the cookie sheet. Using the paint brush, dip it in the black food coloring and let it drop across the macaroons. You can also fling it (come on, it's fun!) for a more splattery look. Once you're satisfied with the black, rinse your brush and do the same with the gold. Test out different techniques until you get the look you're going for. When you're finished, store the macarons in the refrigerator until they're dry. Macarons need to be kept cool or they can sweat, so plan accordingly! DIY black and gold splatter paint macaroons. 30th Birthday DIY Party Hat

DIY Party Hat Tutorial from Smarty Had A Party

In addition to making all my own decorations and desserts, I also set out to create a super fabulous 30th birthday DIY party hat. And because everybody should enjoy party hats, here are some instructions on how to create your own for any occasion.

DIY gold glitter 30th birthday party hat tutorial from Smarty Had A Party.

Materials:
  • 1 headband
  • 1 sheet of scrapbook paper
  • Tissue paper
  • Any other decorative fun things you want to add (I used feathers, styrofoam glitter balls, lace, beads, etc.)
  • Hot glue gun
  • Hole punch
  • Tape
Directions: Using the scrapbook paper, roll a cone in the desired height of your party hat. Fasten it together with the hot glue gun and allow it to dry. Punch a hole on each side of the cone for the headband to slide through.

Slide the headband through and start attaching all of the decorations as desired.

The first things I attached were the black feathers which I attached with hot glue, then the tissue paper (also attached with hot glue and secured with tape) and the styrofoam balls.
