DIY: Cork Name Card Holders

Milena Kukurekovic

Why not throw a wine party for close family and friends? Let's just not make this any old wine party; let's put some excitement into this one! Have all of your guests bring over a bottle of wine they have never tried, choosing a wine label that best depicts their personality. You’ll be floored with what people come up with! Serve light appetizers: cheese, crackers, shrimp, and fruit.

As for the decor, wow your guest with a beautiful candle-lit room, decorated with a touch of flowers. Take corkscrews and use them as name stands for table settings or food labels. Your wine party will be a hit, and, I promise you, your guests will go home trying to mimic your wine party.

Here's what you'll need:
  • wine corks (1 per place card)
  • X-acto knife
  • cardstock
  • black marker/calligraphy pen
Here's how to make 'em:
  1. Cut off one side of the cork lengthwise with your X-acto knife so that it will lay flat
  2. On the opposite side, use your X-acto knife to make a shallow cut down the cork's middle lengthwise
  3. Use the cardstock to cut out place cards that are slightly longer than the corks
  4. Use your marker to write your guests' names on each of the cards (Use a calligraphy pen if you know how.)
  5. Secure one name card in each cork and neatly line them up on a table
