DIY Dip Dyed Napkins
Today, I'm going to show you how to dip dye napkins! Dip dye describes the effect given to fabric when the color goes from light to dark, or in this case from white into color. The dip dye effect looks great on any type of polyester table linen and makes each linen unique. In the Mardi Gras spirit, we dip dyed our napkins in purple, green and yellow. Follow along for my DIY dip dyed napkins tutorial. What you need:
- liquid or powder dye
- white linen polyester napkins
- 1 gallon bucket (we used an ice bucket, or use a pot for the stove top method)
Step 1: Add dye to hot water according to dye instructions. Fold napkin in half, and dip it into mixture about half way, leaving the folded end of the napkin un-dyed. The dye will gradually spread, which is what you want. Step 2: Rinse napkin in cold water to remove excess dye. Be sure to rinse from the fold down so the folded end of the napkin stays white. Step 3: Hang napkin to dry. Re-dip as desired. Add dip dyed napkins to Smarty Gras partyware and you'll be ready to get the party started!
