DIY Tea Light Table Lamp

Milena Kukurekovic

Smarties, we attended an event recently, and the decorations caught our eyes. But, especially the table decorations, the cost spent on those was quite expensive. That made us think of cost-efficient table decor ideas. So today, we thought of sharing some of our budget-friendly DIY table decoration ideas you can use for your formal and casual events.

These adorable DIY Tea Light Table Lamps are an easy and elegant way to dress up your tablescape for any formal occasion. We love this project because all the necessary materials needed for this project are easily available and can be bought for a low price. We threw them together on a whim using things we already had around the house (and the office). Below are the elements you will need to put this tea light lamp together.

List of needed Materials:

  • Tea lights
  • Cupcake liners
  • Glasschampagne fluteshot cups, etc.
  • Filler (You can use any type of filler-beads, rhinestones, pebbles, gems, whatever floats your boat)

How did we come up with this idea? We had a set of iridescent glittered cupcake liners in the closet, which made us think, gee, wouldn't these be cute little lampshades?

Here's how I assembled all the materials:

First, we grabbed a couple of our plastic glasses from the sample room - you can also use a mini shooter or a champagne flute. We also took some tea lights and beads from our craft room at home. (We used pink-colored beads, you can use any color you want). Then, fill your container up enough that you won't see the tea light under the cupcake liner, but it is not so full that it sits out the top. After that, pop in your tea light and throw on an upside-down cupcake liner. And voilà! You're all set. It is as SIMPLE as that.

Rose in a Wine Glass

This idea is suitable for a romantic setting. And it is exactly what the name suggests. You only need three elements to put this idea together. It is simple, quick, and budget-friendly!

What you need:

  • Roses (You can also use any flower you like. We used yellow roses)
  • Wine glass
  • Candles (We used yellow colored candles to match the flowers. Again, the color depends on your preference)

Place the flowers on the table. You will need to cut off the stem. Then place the wine glass over the flower. The glass should be placed upside-down. Then put the candle on top of the base of the glass. And you are done!

Wine Bottle Vase

All you need for this idea are some flowers and wine bottles.

First, wash the bottles thoroughly and remove any stickers on them. You can also spray paint the bottles to suit your party's theme. Then fill the bottle with water. Filling it about ¾ way should be enough. Then take the flowers and trim the stems at a 45-degree angle. Then place them inside the bottle. You can keep one bottle per table, tie a few bottles together with a ribbon or a string, and keep them on a table too.

Let's move on to the next idea now, shall we?

Mason Jars to the Win

We are obsessed with mason jars at the moment. So here's how you can turn them into a centerpiece. Find yourself some,

  • Mason jars
  • Spray paint
  • Crafts glue
  • Glitter
  • Flowers, feathers, or anything you would like to put into the jars

First, wash and dry the mason jars well. If you don't quite like mason jars, you can try to use mercury glass or apothecary jars. Then paint the container. Don't forget to paint the bottom of the jar too. And let it dry. Then apply crafts glue around the jar evenly (or as evenly as possible) with a brush. We applied glue to the bottom half only. Next, put the glitter all over the glue before it dries up. Let it dry. Then apply glue on the glitter again, sprinkle it, and set it aside to dry. Repeat the same process until you are satisfied with the look. Finally, place whatever you want inside the jars, and you are done. We loved using feathers because they looked dreamy.

Are you hosting a party for your fellow book lover friends? Then our next idea will match your taste.

Books

We are sure you have hefty books with lovely covers in your collection. Or books with nice covers but you not so good plot, or classic books. Get them out. Arrange two to three books on top of each other, and then you can place a wreath or even a cute cactus plant!

Are you a lover of wooden looks? Then read on to know about our sixth suggestion.

Wood Cuts

Do you have any woodcuts or coasters lying around and don't know what to do with them? Here's how you can put it to use. You need to find some moss and flowers too. First, place the coaster on the table. Then place the moss and flowers in any pattern you like. You can use craft moss and flowers for this. Next, you can use a hot glue gun to attach them to the wooden coaster. Laying some fairy lights around the woodcuts will also give a magical look.

Pine Cones in a Vase

We had some of the pine cones we collected on our hike. So we thought they'll look great in a vase. When we tried the look, it did meet our expectations. So, here's how you can make a centerpiece with mere pine cones. First, find a vase and pine cones.

Simply put the cones along with some fairy lights into the vase. This will look amazing when placed on a wooden coaster or near some candles. You can also color the pine cones if you want.
