Tips For The Perfect Cocktail Party

Milena Kukurekovic

Sometimes you might be looking for ways to entertain guests without the commitment that comes with hosting a dinner party. If you're looking for a quiet evening at home with some good friends, a cocktail party is an easy way to show off your flair for entertaining. Here are a few tips to help make it a memorable occasion.

Try dimming the lights and placing candles near focal points around the house. Your guests will be standing and talking most of the evening, and overhead lights can be somewhat stifling if they're too bright. Dim lights and candles will help make your home feel cozy and inviting, but don't overdo it! You don't want your place to look like a cathedral.

Keep a well-stocked bar in plain view - your guests might be bashful about making their own drinks, so encourage them to fix their favorite cocktail right when they show up. If you don't mind standing behind the bar most of the evening, you can even make them yourself! Alternatively, you can hire a private bartender to handle the occasion.
