DIY Baby's Breath Wedding Bouquets | www.SmartyHadAParty.com

We all know that weddings are always an extravagant affair. And flowers can be an incredibly pricey component of a wedding. But the beautiful bouquets and floral arrangements can be yours without breaking the bank. We'll show you how to make your own DIY baby's breath wedding bouquets and some affordable centerpieces ideas today!

You might wonder why we are using baby's breath. We use them because we love the simplicity of the baby's breath; it's stunning, inexpensive, and available year-round. This makes these beautiful flowers a fabulous choice for any wedding. But especially for a winter wedding, the color of these fantastic flowers works wonders to complement the decoration of a winter wedding. To dress it up, you can spray the baby's breath with silver or gold floral paint, as we did here. We have used Design Master for flowers in sterling silver and 24K gold. Another great way to save on flowers is by using bridal party bouquets as centerpieces for the head table. Our large plastic carafes make the perfect vases for bridal parties to showcase their bouquets at the reception.

Baby's Breath Centerpiece

Here's how to put together your own baby's breath centerpieces. We have given below a list of items you will need to do so.

What you need:

  • Plenty of baby's breath flowers
  • plastic wine carafe
  • silver and gold floral spray paint (optional)
  • floral tape
  • floral pins
  • 1.5" organza ribbon - we used a Silver 1.5" Wired Edged Organza Ribbon to stick with the theme.

Directions:

Step 1: Firsttrim the stems of the baby's breath at an angle. We suggest cutting the branches at a 45-degree angle.

Step 2: Separate the flowers into three groups.

Step 3: Spray one group with the silver floral spray. Spray another group with gold floral spray. You will be left with a group of flowers in their original color.

Step 4:  Then, arrange the pieces together one by one, intermixing the silver, white, and gold to create a rounded cluster.

Step 5: Once you've formed a bouquet, hold the stems tightly and wrap the floral tape around them. You should start wrapping at the neck of the flower bouquet. Gently place the bouquet aside.

Step 6: Cut a piece of organza ribbon. The ribbon should be about 8 to 12 inches in length.

Step 7: Take the bouquet and wrap the ribbon tightly around the stems. The ribbon should cover as much of the floral tapes as possible.

Step 8: Finallycarefully insert the floral pins upward into the stems to secure the ribbon.

Floating Candles Centerpiece

Here are other affordable and quick centerpiece ideas for those who are conscious of their budget.

You will need:

  • Baby's breath flowers
  • A glass vase (We used our plastic wine carafe because they look classy)
  • Floating candles
  • Water

Directions:

First, take the vase and place it on a flat surface. Then grab the baby's breath flowers and place them inside the vase. Do you have to follow a pattern in the placement? No. You can set the flowers inside the vase in any way you like. Then fill the vase with water. We want the flowers to be submerged and the candles to sit in the water. Next, pull the wick of the candles up and trim a little. Then place the candle in water and light it up.

You can make the same centerpiece in this way too. You will have to find these two extra items; submersible LED, and vase filler (We recommend the transparent/clear ones)

You need to fill the bottom of the vase with the vase filler. Filling up to 2 to 3 inches should be enough. Then push the turned-on LED lights upside down into the vase filler. Then place your flowers in the vase in any pattern you want. After that, fill the vase with water. Then place the floating candles and light them up. And voilà, a budget-friendly yet gorgeous centerpiece! This centerpiece looks more aesthetically pleasing in the ceremonies that are held in the evening or night.

(A little suggestion for all our smarties -Try to assemble these centerpieces on the surface you plan to keep them on. Because the vases will be heavy to move around after being filled with water)

Beauty and the Beast Centerpiece

Let's move on to the third centerpiece idea, shall we? Again, we were inspired by one of our all-time favorite movies, Beauty and the Beast.

You will need:

  • Wooden coaster
  • Wet floral foam
  • Flowers (We used white roses and baby's breath)
  • Leaves of choice
  • Bell jars (Even glass domes and clear bowls work)
  • Cranberry (Optional-for that pop of color)

Directions:

First, place a small block of wet floral foam on the wooden coaster. Then stick the flowers and leaves of your choice onto them to your liking. The foam should not be visible after you are done. Next, you can place the cranberries to create a beautiful contrast to the flowers' whiteness and the leaves green. Finally, place the bell jar over the flowers. You can even decorate the rim of the jar with pearls to add more beauty. Candles or fairy lights placed around these centerpieces create wonders too!

The centerpiece looks magical? We couldn't agree more.

Sand Centerpiece

Here's another fantastic budget-friendly centerpiece idea that useless play sand, bowl, and flowers.

You fill the bowl with the play sand until it's ⅔ full. And then stick the stem of the flower/s in the sand. You can use water tubes to keep the flowers fresh for a longer time. Remember to trim the stem to suit the bowl of your choice. Why can't you use sand from a beach or park? Because the cleanness can't be guaranteed when using that sand. Store-bought play sand guarantees that it's free from harmful bacteria and super cheap too.
